Janet Virginia Ennis, 77, passed away Friday August 23, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama and a graduate of Bishop Toolen High School and Sacred Heart Catholic College in Cullman. She taught school in Mobile at Holy Family Catholic School, then later completed her BS degree from UAH.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Janet Potter, brother Joel Potter, first husband Paul Duane Poe, and infant child.
She is survived by husband Jimmy (Jim) Ennis of 44 years, daughters Karen Thompson, Susan Boyd, Son David Paul Poe, brothers Mark Potter of St. George UT, Mike Potter of Madison, Greg Potter of Mobile, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, mother-in-law Evelyn Ennis of Harvest, and several relatives in the Mobile area.
Janet was an active member and volunteer in her St. Joseph Catholic church family, meals-on-wheels, community watch, enjoyed vacations to the beach, grandchildren activities, home gardening, and bowling in various leagues in the Huntsville area.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Spry Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
