Janet Ruth Kindgren, 71, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. She was born on March 10, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, to George and Ruth Hunt.
Janet worked many jobs throughout her life, most recently as a secretary at Ortex Extermination Company. No matter what role she held, she approached every task with dedication, humor, and heart. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, whose love and strength were the foundation of her family.
Janet will be remembered as a strong-willed and caring woman who was always ready to help anyone in need. She had a firecracker spirit and a heart of gold. Her compassion extended beyond people—she had a lifelong love of animals and rescued many dogs throughout her life.
In her free time, Janet enjoyed reading, crocheting, coloring, and cooking, and she was known for her delicious homemade meals. She loved settling in to watch a good movie—especially scary ones—and could often be found enjoying her favorite treats: chocolate, Pepsi, and Jay’s Barbecue Chips.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eric Kindgren; her children, Jennifer Newman, Mike Long, and Shawn Heath; grandchildren, Jennifer Robertson, Alyssa Sennese, Andrew Thomsen, Aydan Thomsen, and Grace Newman; great-grandchildren, Delilah Heatherly and Phoenix Heatherly and friend to April Kindgren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Hunt and her daughter Christina LaValley.
A small memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at Essential Church, 801 Beirne Ave, Huntsville, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
Janet will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
