Janice Hixon was born on July 28, 1942 in Huntsville Alabama to Susie and Clayton Hammonds. She passed on October 6, 2025.
Janice graduated from Alabama A&M University with a degree in education and devoted her professional life to elementary education. She married her husband Thomas in December of 1968, and relocated to Germany soon afterwards. She taught for decades in Germany for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools system. Upon her retirement, she returned to the United States and again took a teaching position with the Georgia public school system.
She is survived by her son Thomas, sisters Molly, Tera, Gertrude, and bothers Alexander and Winford.
She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas, mother Susie, father Clayton, and sister Desiree
Burial will be held on October 15 at 2:00PM at Huntsville Memory Gardens 6810 University Drive NW, Hwy 72 W, Huntsville, AL 35806. Relatives and friends are welcome.
