Jerry Dale Atnip, age 84 of Huntsville, Alabama entered through heaven's gate Friday, January 2, 2026. Jerry was а committed husband to his wife Joanne for over 60 years and spent a lifetime devoted to his two children, daughter-in-law, six grandsons and three great-grandchildren. He was known as "Grandy," Brother or Uncle Jerry to many. God gave him the gift of discernment and he used it wisely, offering counsel to family and friends. A close nephew of his once stated, "Uncle Jerry didn't always tell you what you wanted to hear, but he told you what was right." Most importantly, he loved witnessing to others about Jesus!
Jerry served in several churches throughout the years and continued his service to his Lord by singing gospel music with both The Countrymen and Unity Quartet. He was noted for his deep, bass voice that seemed to vibrate through the church pews. No church was too small for them to sing in, nor was it too far away. It did not matter if there were 20 or 200 people in attendance, they sang as unto the Lord. Singing was his passion and God used these two groups to change many lives for His Kingdom. Jerry also founded a family owned business that has served the Huntsville area for over 50 years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Atnip, father, Jacob Carl Atnip and mother, Jennie Tipps Atnip. He is survived by his son Robby (Felicia) Atnip, daughter Sheila Atnip Lonis. Grandsons, Joseph (Mary) Atnip, Robert Atnip, Jacob (Kaitlyn) Atnip, Ryan Lonis, Preston (Jen) Lonis and Blake Lonis. Three great-grandchildren, Henry and Luke Atnip (Joseph & Mary) and Louise Atnip (Jacob & Kaitlyn). Brothers Danny (Barbara) Atnip, Joe (Pat) Atnip. Many Brothers and Sisters-in Law, Cousins, Nephews and Nieces he held dear to his heart.
