JoAnn Carolyn Tyra

JoAnn Carolyn Tyra, 63, of Huntsville, AL, passed away October 19, 2023, after a sudden onset and incredible battle with Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. She passed away peacefully with her loving daughter Kacey Tyra by her side.

JoAnn was born March 29, 1960 to the late Mary Monte and Philip Monte in St. Louis, MO. She enjoyed her family and was very close to her cousins in South City St. Louis. She had a long and successful career at the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) and retired after over 30 years of civil service. She was a bright, hard working and highly relied upon Contract Specialist who, over the span of her tenure with AMCOM, served in almost every manned aircraft Program Management office - negotiating contracts, buying, and selling Army helicopters.

JoAnn married Michael (Mike) Ardell Imhoff and they had a wonderful 16 years together sharing their love of God, family, travel, animals, and spending time with one another.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Mike, daughter Kacey Marie Tyra, son John Michael Tyra, step daughter Elaine Loraine Imhoff, step son Ernest Aaron Imhoff, a host of grandchildren, her two dogs Muttley and Sergeant, and cat Lucile Ball.

JoAnn was a beloved member of the Branch Family Worship Center of Huntsville, AL. She enjoyed spending time her friends, family, her pets, and was always ready for a good laugh. She had a contagious laugh and a fantastic sense of humor. She was very smart - always ready to tell an interesting fact about something.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 0900-1100, October 23, 2023 at the Branch Family Worship Center, 926 Weatherly Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803.
