John Gilbert Montana, 94, of Huntsville, AL, entered eternal rest on July 11th, 2025. Born to John Gilbert and Petra Amparano Montana in Yuma, Arizona on October 9, 1930. Fourth of ten siblings.
His interests were sports-boxing, swimming, bowling and music (most favorite). Taking pictures of family was a hobby he picked up from his father.
John enlisted into the Army Air Force at 17 with Honorable Discharge. He met and married Lois M. Altman while stationed at Topeka, Kansas. Worked at Army Missile Command Redstone Arsenal for 27 years. Retired Federal Civil Service June 30, 1986 with 37 1/2 years total service.
Preceded in death by wife, Maxine; oldest daughter, Monica; youngest son, David; and grandson, Billy Clardy.
Leaves behind children, Carol Montana of Cleveland, TN and Jon Montana (Moselle) of Huntsville, AL; brother, William (Billy) of Yuma, AZ; sister, Juanita Montana of Scottsdale, AZ; 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville. Visitation will take place from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM with a Graveside service following at 3:00 PM at Maple Hill Cemetery.
