John Henry Salyers

It is with great sadness that the family of John Henry Salyers announces his passing on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the age of 96.

Mr. Salyers is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; sons Steven Mark Salyers and Brian Lee Salyers and their spouses; stepchildren Lynne (Crawford) Becker, Ralph Crawford, Rhonda (Crawford) Cooper, Patricia (Crawford) Carr, and Gregory Crawford and their spouses. Mr. Salyers will also be lovingly remembered by a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

John served in the Army Air Corps and had a passion for flying. He was an accomplished machinist and created wonderful vignettes with motion that fascinated his children and his grandchildren. He was dedicated to his wife and family. He loved gardening and sharing his produce and cuttings with others.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ossie Lee Salyers, mother, Alice Mayfield Salyers, and brother, Dorris Lee Salyers.

A celebration of his life will be held at Spry Funeral Home, 2411 North Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, Alabama on Tuesday, February 18, 2024. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service beginning immediately after at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Plevna, Alabama.
