Johnny J Hutchens, 75 of Phenix City, AL passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at home surrounded by family.
Johnny was preceeded in death by his parents, John and Rosie Belle Hutchens; his brother, Clyde Hutchens; his sister, Geraldine Maynard; and wife, Linda. He was Baptist by faith and grew up in Huntsville and Gurley, Alabama. Survivors include his beloved son and daughter, Gary Hutchens and Amy (Ron) Evans; his grandchildren, Brandon Hutchens, Hayden (Gage) Evans, Coleton Evans, Megan (Jamme) Schott; and his great-grandchildren, Emory Lee Davidson and Kaden Schott. Other survivors include Peggy Elledge, James (Nancy) Hutchins, Jesse (Ginger) Hutchens, Clifford (Judy) Hutchens, and many nieces and nephews.
Johnny was employed at Ragland Brothers for 23 years as a truck driver. Upon leaving Ragland Brothers, he worked briefly in construction and then began a career at National Copper where he retired as a shift supervisor. Johnny loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as all of his family. In his younger days, he liked to play softball, working on old cars with Gary and fishing. He loved having his booth at the flea market on the weekend - meeting people and making deals, working in the yard, and enjoyed watching his Western shows.
