Laura Fann Bennett

Laura Fann Bennett, 81, of Brownsboro, AL, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025. Born on March 7, 1943, Laura was a beloved mother, sister, and friend, known for her warm smile and open-hearted spirit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard G. Bennett, Jr., and her siblings, Orville Beal, Waylon Beal, and Alvarine (Beal) Nunley. Laura is survived by her sons, Kevin Bennett and Arlen (Keith) Bennett; her cherished sister, Bonnie (Beal) Morrow; one grandson; and three great grandchildren.

Laura had a passion for traveling and cherished the connections she made, never meeting a stranger. Her heart was especially open to animals, and she could not resist bringing stray (or not-so-stray) puppies and kittens into her home. A lover of wildlife and nature, she found joy in watching deer wander across her property and took delight in hearing stories of encounters with all of God’s creatures. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. One of her favorite hobbies was sewing, and for many years she took great pride in making clothing for her family and friends. Laura also enjoyed photography, and upon being gifted with an instant camera many years ago, took pictures of all the places she visited.

She also loved gardening, baking, cooking, and canning.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her honor to a local animal shelter, the American Diabetes Association, the Dementia Society of America, or the Alzheimer's Association.

Laura’s vibrant spirit and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. A memorial service will be held on January 9, 2025, at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL to celebrate her life. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a short service beginning at noon and officiated by Pastor Seth Adgate. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
