Lillian Juanita Camper Ingram died Nov. 18, 2023. She was 92.
Juanita was born in Harvest, Alabama on Oct. 9, 1931. It took the doctor who delivered her an extra day to make it back to town to record the birth, so according to the government, she was born on Oct. 10.
She was the oldest daughter of John and Ethel Camper and the second born of five children, three boys and two girls. Her siblings were Lewis, Walter, Mary Louise and Bishop.
On March 24, 1951, Juanita married RW Ingram in North Alabama. The couple enjoyed 69 years of marriage until RW died in 2020.
Over the nearly seven decades together, Juanita and RW would travel countless miles on RW’s Harley Davidson motorcycle and take long road trips with friends and family.
In 1955, the couple had their first child, Judy, and shortly after, they moved back to North Alabama when RW finished his time in the United States Army.
The couple welcomed their second child, Charron, in 1957 and their youngest, Edward, in 1965.
A lifelong homemaker, Juanita would devote the rest of her life to caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She set examples of what it meant to care for others and love others. She showed others how to be compassionate and understanding. Everyone was always welcome in her home and at her table.
Juanita was a long-time member of Ester Chapel.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers. She is survived by her sister, three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
