Lois Adams Obituary

Lois Jean Schrimsher Adams was born on Little Cove in Gurley, AL on September 27, 1934, and left this earth in Cookeville, TN on January 20, 2024, of natural causes.

Jean was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ and loved music, especially country, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was a longtime member of the Country Music Association (CMA) and belonged to Smithville Family Consumer Education (FCE). Jean loved to travel and be on the go all the time and was fortunate to travel to many states including Hawaii as well as Europe.

Jean worked for thirty-five years for the Army Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL and twenty-three years at Madison County Visitors and Convention Center. Jean loved volunteering at the Huntsville Police Precinct, Huntsville Senior Center, Child Advocacy Center, member/volunteer of the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, and Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Jean volunteered at many local music festivals in and around Huntsville, AL and Nashville, TN at the annual Fan Fair for many years.

Jean loved God, family, and friends and was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mama Jean lovingly accepted and loved people and made friends everywhere she traveled. Her smile was infectious and one of her best qualities was encouraging others with such a positive attitude.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph, and Rozie Schrimsher; siblings, Wanda Schrimsher Stephens, Norma Schrimsher Gant, and Tom Schrimsher.

Jean is survived by her daughter and husband, Kathy (Larry) Adams Reynolds; grandchildren, Adam (Susan) Reynolds, Kristy (Drew) Reynolds Longmire; great grandchildren, Tyler Reynolds, Jacob Reynolds, Emma Reynolds, Jackson Longmire, and Summer Longmire; and special friends, Susan and Jerry Hinton, and caretaker Tanna Harris.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 12:00pm.  An informal  funeral service will follow at 12:00pm at Spry Funeral Home. The interment is to follow the service at Jenkins Cemetery located Gurley, Al.

In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Botanical Gardens of Huntsville, AL or your favorite Charity.
