Lucy Moselle (Breed) Montana

Lucy Moselle Montana, 83, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on July 2nd, 2026.   

Lucy Moselle was born at home to Moses J. and Sarah Jewell (Lee) Breed on May 29, 1943, in Coweta County, Newnan, GA. There were two siblings, an older sister, Betty Joyce, and younger brother, John. Soon after the family moved to Columbus, GA, upon Graduating Columbus High worked at Tom's Foods. Shortly after she married Philip Brown and became a proud mother of two daughters, Wendy and Kelly. In 1986, she married Jon Montana.

Her daughters called her "Mom", and grand children "Memo". Moselle or Mo were often used she preferred just Mo.

She cherished every moment she spent with her grandchildren Taylor, Jordan, Sarah and Addison. Her great grandchildren Ryder, Parker, Lucy, Rayland and Rileigh.

Faith was a cornerstone of Mo's life. Her relationship with God was not simply something she believed but was the foundation upon which she built her life. Her faith guided her decisions, strengthened her through life's challenges and shaped the way she lived. She believed deeply in the power of prayer and often encouraged those around her to "pray about it" and place their trust in God. Her life reflected that faith is not merely spoken but lived. She enjoyed prayer meetings with the church lady friends.

Everyone felt welcomed in her home. She loved gathering family around the table for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Sundays, birthdays and any occasion with friends. She was a wonderful cook. Whether serving her country, caring for her family, supporting her church, or simply extending kindness to someone in need, Mo lived with purpose. She was a kind and giving person, gentle, caring, sweet, compassionate and a loving lady. She never met a stranger. She loved meeting people and always stayed in touch with those she cared about. She'd send out Birthday cards and Christmas cards every year and her loyalty to friends was very important to her. She enjoyed decorating her home with Christmas trees, lights and related decorations for the many seasonal events.

In her Federal Civil Service career with the Department of The Army her favorite job positions were Passport Agent at Redstone Arsenal Alabama and Safety & Occupational Health Specialist at Fort McPherson Georgia. She received high honors from her supervisors, installation commanders and Chief of Staff of the United States Army.

Services will be held at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville with a Visitation on Thursday, July 9th, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and a Visitation on Friday, July 10th, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with the Funeral Service following at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
