Mary Strickland Obituary

Born on February 5, 1942 in Lake Park, Iowa, Mary Ann Watje Strickland was the second oldest child of Fred and Jean Watje.  She graduated from Round Lake Senior High, in Round Lake, Minnesota.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She always had a beautiful smile for everyone, and will be greatly missed.


Mary was predeceased by her parents, brother Richard Watje, and grandchild Thomas Brown. 


Mary is survived by her four children, Rhonda (Patrick) Splear, Margret (Kevin) Stewart, John D. Strickland II, and Robin Strickland; grandchildren Nick Strickland, Kevin Brown, John O Strickland, Trent Stewart, Garrett Splear, Jake Stewart, Ben Stewart, Jackson Splear and JJ Strickland; great-grandchildren Dominic Brown and Cory Brown; siblings Bonnie Anderson, Donna Watje, Glenda Ihnen, Kathy Vinson, Craig Watje and Carol Flathers; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Services will be at Spry Funeral Home, 2411 Memorial Parkway NW, Huntsville, AL 35810 on Thursday, April 20, 2023.  Visitation will be 1:00 - 3:00, with the funeral, officiated by Bishop Mickey Jones, following at 3:00.
