Michael Imhoff Obituary

Michael Ardell Imhoff, aged 75, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, in Decatur, Alabama. Born on September 14, 1949, in Decatur, Illinois, he was the child of a mother and father whose memory he cherished.

Michael, a loving husband and devoted servant of his country, was notable for his commitment to his faith. He was a man who lived his life with integrity, humility, and an unwavering dedication to his faith and his nation.

Following his father’s footsteps, Michael's education began with a strong foundation of love for knowledge, which guided him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in May 1977 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He served his country valiantly as a member of the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and his commitment to service did not wane afterward. He continued to support the Army as a Civil Service Program Manager for over 40 years, significantly contributing to the Apache program. Even after his retirement in 2020, his dedication did not falter. He joined Torch Technologies as a Systems Engineer, where he worked until 2024.

His faith played an essential role in his life, leading him to join the Catholic Church in May 2023. This spiritual commitment was reflected in his daily life and endeavors.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother Pearline Arah Imhoff (Cagle), his father Ernest Ardell Imhoff, and wife JoAnn Carolyn Tyra. He is survived by son Ernest Aaron Imhoff, daughter Elaine Lorien Imhoff, step-daughter Kacey Marie Tyra, step son John Michael Tyra, and grandchildren Rayleigh, Mitchell, Emerson, Andrea and Amelia who will forever cherish his memory and celebrate his life.

Michael's service arrangements will take place on Thursday, July 10th at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Huntsville, Alabama.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the Rosary at 10:30 am and Mass at 11:00 am.  A reception will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Huntsville, Alabama, as a testament to Michael's enduring faith.
