Randy Sherrill

1947-2022

Randy Maurice Sherrill passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 in Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 75. Randy was born in Florence, Alabama on April 18, 1947. He lived there through his childhood years before moving to Huntsville with his parents in 1960 where he was graduated from Lee High School in 1965. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and a master’s degree from Syracuse University. He married Patsy Lee Haskins in 1970 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant that same year. Randy served in the United Stated Army from 1971 to 1972 and in the Army Reserves until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel.  After active duty, he worked in the aerospace and defense industries and as an adjunct instructor at Faulkner University until his retirement in 2013. Randy was a member of the Mayfair Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon. He is preceded in death by his parents Wendell and Lucille Sherrill, and survived by his wife Patsy, sons Ben and Chris, daughter Emily Jones, and sister Judy Lindsey. He was the proud grandfather of 4 grandchildren, Adam and William Sherrill, Jakes Jones, and Courtney Howell. Randy is also survived by a large extended family, including Mike and Martha McBride, Jane Dudan, Becky and William Linton, Martha Sherrill, Linda Lee, Tony Jones, Brianna Jones, Reece Howell, Rick Lindsey, and Andy and Denise Sendry. His services will be held this Wednesday at noon at Spry Funeral Home.
