Obituary

Mr. Richard Watkins Currie, 85 of Huntsville, passed away peacefully Monday, April 20, 2020. He was born February 3, 1935 in Gulf Port, Mississippi.

Mr. Currie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Billie Currie; daughters Kathy Blevins and Pam Cumbaa; brother Bill Currie; grandchildren Currie Cumbaa, Rachel (Grant) Burnett, Austin Blevins and Hunter Blevins; great grandchild Beau Burnett.

Richard spent a long and fulfilling career as an electrical engineer for the Department of Defense at Redstone Arsenal.

Richard had a heart for science, sailing, fishing, astronomy, and being outdoors. However his greatest joy remained in providing for and loving his family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He would not want us to focus on the sadness of his death, but instead look at the happiness we still have in our lives.

The family will have a memorial at a later time. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Paralyzed Veteran’s of America.
