Richard Franklin Tumlin went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2025. He was surrounded by his family. Richard was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on July 20, 1947.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years (61 years total), Patricia Huskey Tumlin, daughter, Glenda Sharp (Scott), and his grandchildren, Jacob, Riley, and Nicholas.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Monroe Tumlin and Emma May Tumlin. Richard was one of seven children: Charles (deceased), Zollie (deceased), Carolyn (deceased), Ivanelle Riddle (deceased), Minnie Pearl (Dink) Peoples, and Betty Joe Black.
Richard married the love of his life on May 29, 1968. He did everything that he could to make sure his wife and family were happy. He was a jack of all trades, from doing electrical work in the house to cutting the grass.
Richard retired from the Huntsville Utilities after 35 years of service. He was hard-working, providing for his family. Richard enjoyed spending time with the people he loved. He fished with his brothers, sisters, and grandchildren. He taught his grandchildren how to enjoy competition. He spent time with them playing pool and their favorite card game, rummy. Richard’s favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves and Alabama football.
Most importantly, Richard loved the Lord. He was a member of the Lincoln Church of Christ, where he attended with his family. Richard was fun, full of life, and never met a stranger. His denim overalls and sense of humor left an impression everywhere he went.
