Rita Jean (Martin) Pope

Rita Tannock (Martin) Pope, age 84 of Conyers, GA formerly of Huntsville, AL passed away on September 4, 2025.
She was born on July 13, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Rita was preceded in death by her first husband, Lynn Tannock, her sister Carol Ann Rogers and brother Jim Martin.

She is survived by her devoted husband David Pope, sister Kathy Traxler, daughters Connie Williams (Chris) and Debbi Tannock (Mark Moss), sons Chris Tannock (Melissa) and Dean Tannock (Ginger), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mom was a dedicated loving mother with a godly heart. Always made sure we were fed and loved. She worked various jobs to make ends meet, while moving around to different military bases, making whatever housing we lived in a home. Upon settling in Huntsville she made friends everywhere- neighbors, church, work or college. She graduated from Athens State University with a teaching degree. She was a teacher for several years before retiring. She spent her final years in Conyers, GA with her loving husband David.
