Robert (Bob) Lon Kerstetter, age 63, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 18, 1961, in Towanda, Pennsylvania.
Bob was a graduate of Towanda High School and served proudly in the U.S. Navy on the USS Houston as a Nuclear Submarine Electronics Technician. He was stationed out of San Diego, California. He pursued a career at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens, Alabama as a Senior Reactor Operator until his retirement.
He lived a life filled with love, dedication and adventure. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by all who knew him. He never met a stranger and would be the first to offer help to anyone in need. He enjoyed playing tennis, biking, hiking, boating, traveling and anything space related. He loved spending time on his Tennessee River property watching the pelicans, birds and especially the sunsets.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia (Kisner) Kerstetter; brother, Kenneth Kerstetter and grandparents Harold and Ethel Kerstetter and Charles Ivan and Mildred Kisner.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Nicole (Billy) Pezzeca; son, Stephen Kyle (Shelbi) Kerstetter; loving partner, Debbie Fisher; grandchildren, James Aaron Raines, Alyssah Faith Pezzeca, Wyatt Lon Pezzeca, Stetson Lee Kerstetter; sister, Karen Wells of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania; sister Wendy (Dale) Weaver of Summerville, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Becky Kerstetter of Sayre, Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A graveside military honors service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a Veterans organization very near and dear to Bob's heart.
Bob will be remembered for his warm smile, generous spirit and unwavering kindness. May his legacy remind us to cherish every moment and to love deeply
