Roy Thornton of Silver Springs, Md., died Sunday, March 9, 2003, in Stuart, Florida. He was 84.
Mr. Thornton was a native of Lavaca, Ark., was raised in Alabama and lived in the Washinton D.C. area for 54 years. A retired building contractor, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Thornton of Silver Springs, Md.; one son, Mike Thornton of Md.; two daughters, Rebecca Tyson and Kathryn Parrish, both of Calif.; two sisters, Doris Richardson of Huntsville and Francis Hampton of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
