Ruby Inez Garlen (Butler), a cherished matriarch, devoted friend, and faithful servant, passed away peacefully at the age of 85.
Born and raised in the heart of North Alabama, Ruby spent her life cultivating deep roots in her community. She was a woman of fierce love, immense grace, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear.
Ruby’s impact was felt deeply by everyone who knew her, perhaps nowhere more so than at Flint River Baptist Church and with her children and grandchildren. As a cornerstone of her community, her faith wasn't just something she practiced—it was something she lived. She poured her heart into serving others, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and spiritual devotion to Jesus.
When she wasn’t tending to her church family, Ruby could often be found with her family, playing dice, gardening, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Ruby had a gift for helping the people around her, offering warmth, wisdom, and a listening ear to anyone in need.
Above all, Ruby loved her family and friends fiercely. She was the bedrock of her family, and her proudest legacy lives on through her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her four beloved grandchildren, who carry forward her spirit, strength, and love, Hunter Dobbins, Butler Dobbins, Lena Lam, and Anna Lam.
Ruby's laughter, her loyalty to Jesus, and the gentle beauty she brought into this world will be profoundly missed, but her memory will remain forever rooted in the hearts of all who loved her.
