Shirley Wyatt Scalf, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on January 17, 1936, in Corbin, Kentucky, Shirley lived a life dedicated to her family and her passion for home decorating.
Shirley married the love of her life, Joe Scalf, with whom she shared many wonderful years of marriage. Their 70th wedding anniversary would have been celebrated on July 31, 2024. Together, they built a warm and loving home where family always came first. Her career was her family, and she took immense pride in being a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. Her home was a testament to her talent and passion for decorating, always reflecting her impeccable taste and creativity.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Joe, and their four sons: Doug, David, Greg (Tracy), and Phil. She was a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren; James, Peyton, Alex, Cole, Parker, Wyatt, Shelley, Aaron, and Ryan, who will always remember her kindness, wisdom, and the beautiful home she created filled with love and laughter.
Shirley will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her artistic spirit, and her warm and welcoming home. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29th, at Spry Funeral Home, presided by Reverend James Henderson. The burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. All arrangements are being handled by Spry Funeral Home.
A private service will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Village of Promise in Shirley’s memory.
