Steven Robert Arthur known to family and friends as Steve was born on November, 20, 1947 in Washington, Indiana. He passed away at the age of 77 in Huntsville Hospital surrounded by family on August, 25, 2025.
Steve’s lifelong joy was motor vehicles. He loved everything about motor vehicles and was an avid buyer and seller. The most recent purchase was always his “retirement vehicle” and there were several of those purchased over the years since his retirement in 2008. Even after he could no longer drive, due to Parkinson’s Disease, he continued to have a vehicle sitting in his garage.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Glauda Mullins Arthur, son John Christopher Arthur (April), granddaughters Marleigh Grace Arthur and Natalie McBrayer, a sister Jean Walls of Washington, Indiana and her grandchildren, a brother Jimmy Arthur (Jane) of Seymour, Indiana, along with their children (Troy and Tammy), (Phil Norton), and grandchildren; a loving sister- in-law Elma Frye, and her daughter Brittany Connell and her daughter Andi Connell, a brother-in-law Billy Mullins(Bobbie) of Columbus, Indiana, and son Nathan and special family members Eliseo Garces and Louis Gonzalez of Texas.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents James (Shug) and Imogene Arthur and his son SFC Scott Robert Arthur; Steve also served in the US Army National Guard for six years.
The family will host a visitation at Spry Funeral Home, located at 2411 Memorial Parkway NW, Huntsville, Al., 35810. This visitation will take place on Thursday, September, 04, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Parkinson’s Dynamics of Huntsville, Alabama, where Steve was a member since his PD diagnosis in 2020.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.” Steve will be driving fast and shifting gears.
