Una Dorothy Brooks

Una Dorothy Brooks, age 89 of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Sunday at a local hospital.  A nativeof New Hope, Alabama she was born April 22, 1935 to Ted and Mary Bevel.  She graduated from DAR high school in Grant, Alabama, and later, administrative assistant school in Scottsboro, Alabama . Una started a career with the Department of the Army where she retired. Una was married to Robert Glenn Brooks for 17 years they had two children Son Jeffrey Glenn Brooks and Daughter Shelia Jo Brooks Jones. Una Brooks spent her time with family at the lake in Scottsboro or traveling to various places through out the United States and the Caribbean .She was a special lady a loving Mother, Grandmother , Great grandmother and Great Great grandmother she had no doubt about how much she was loved .

Una is proceeded in death by her four brothers, Leon Bevel, James Bevel, Rayburn Bevel, and Allen Bevel; grandson Barrett Jones; and son-in-law, Mark Jones.   

She is survived by her loving Long time  Partner of 43 years Melvin Bartlett; son Jeff Brooks, his wife Lisa; daughter, Shelia Brooks; two grandchildren Brandon Brooks, and wife Sara, and Chrissy Jones; three great-grandchildren, Traevon Matthews, and his wife Kaylee, Ryley Brooks, and Anna Brooks; three great-great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Ruby, and Traevon Matthews Jr; and numerous extended family. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00pm and Thursday from 12:30 until 1:45pm.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00pm in Spry Funeral Homes Chapel with Natalie Brock officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
