Vera Patterson Tipton, 95, of Meridianville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at her home with her daughters beside her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Wesley Tipton, her parents, Margie and Jim Patterson, and her brother, James Patterson, Jr. Surviving family members include her daughters, Margie Tipton Dowling, Anna Tipton Sharpe (Ed), grandsons John Thomas (Nicolette), Grayson Sharpe (Holly), Robert Sharpe (Alden) and 7 great grandchildren.
Vera graduated from Riverton School, where she met her husband, John, began a career at Lincoln Mill and later devoted her life to being a mother, wife and homemaker. She was a member of Flint River Baptist Church, Mulberry Baptist Church, and First Flint River Baptist church. At these churches, she worked with and ministered to children and taught adult Sunday School Classes for many years. Vera was small, but mighty and was loved and respected by all who knew her well.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Flint River Cemetery (8519 Moores Mill Road, Meridianville, AL. 35759) with Rev. Tommy Marr officiating. All state Covid 19 protocols will be observed, including masks and social distancing.
