Callie “Bernice” Cox, 90, of Norcross, GA, passed away peacefully. She was born in Brownsboro, AL to Ernest Steger and Vida Stephens Steger. She was preceded in death by her faithful husband of sixty-four years, Grady Cox. Bernice grew up in Brownsboro, AL and spent most of her life in Madison County, AL. She graduated from Gurley High School where she played basketball. She served as the lunch room manager at Central Junior High School from 1962 – 1965. She also worked at J.C. Penney’s, Montgomery Ward, and the Double Cola Bottling Co. She was known for her delicious cakes and pies and made-from-scratch biscuits. Bernice attended Memorial Parkway Church of Christ, which is now Chase Park Church of Christ. She and her husband served as foster parents for AGAPE of Huntsville, AL. She is survived by her son, Charles Cox (Janet) of Norcross, GA; grandchildren, Allen Cox (Melody) of Lawrenceville, GA, Jennifer Cox Cameron (David) of Huntsville, AL; great-granddaughters, Aria and Alana Cox of Lawrenceville, GA. Visitation will be held at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL on Friday evening, June 3, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Chapel service will be held at Spry Funeral Home on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with graveside service to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville, AL.
