Unita Louise Sanderson, 77, passed away early Friday, March 20, 2015 in Huntsville, Alabama. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Unita bravely battled several damaging strokes and was a beacon of love and strength until her last breath. Her family and friends will be forever grateful for the additional time they had with her.

Unita spent the majority of her life in Huntsville, Alabama where she planted roots and started a family. She became well known in the community as a wonderful woman who spent her life helping others. She loved her family dearly and made friends wherever she went. Unita led a very active life and was always on the go. She spent countless years as a home care worker, providing companionship and comfort, and care for those who could no longer care for themselves.

Unita was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. She is preceded in death by her husband, William and three daughters, Debra, Freda, and Rita. Unita is survived by her daughter, Vickey; 8 grandchildren, Angela, David, Becky, Jesse, Jason, Shanette, Blake, and Travis; 5 great-grandchildren, Casey, Bailey, Coty, Ethan, and Taylor; and 1 great-great grandchild, Amilia. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

Unita had a heart of gold and touched many lives with kindness. She will be deeply missed by those who had the great fortune of knowing her.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Spry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Spry Chapel. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
