Dear Mrs. Hacker, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Please know it was my honor to work for you as a CNA when you and Dr. Hacker owned Pinecrest Estates, here in Huntsville, AL. Dr. Hacker was a true leader in providing a loving community/home for residents with symptoms of Alzheimers. What a tremendous commitment it was for you; I feel truly blessed to have experienced his love and guidance especially toward the residents and their families. Please take comfort in all your fond memories; I am proud to know Dr. Hacker and that he lived such an inspirational life..... Kandy Hayden

Joe Hacker had a great love for foreign mission work. He encouraged me in my desire to become a missionary to Brasil in 1961. He also inspired me in my work as a part-time educational director in Houston prior to our move to South America. Joe had a profound influence on the entire brotherhood as he enlarged our vision for short-term mission campaigns at home and abroad. I am grateful for his personal kindness to me and for his visionary leadership in churches of Christ.

To the Hacker family, Dr. Joe was the one who spent time with me as a junior transfer in the fall of 1961 helping me to see the word of God in my life and leading me to be baptized in the spring of 1962. he best thing that has ever happened to me.

Charles and I were on academic leave at Ole Miss when you moved to Searcy; we returned the next year. From then on our respect for Dr. Hacker grew. It has been years since we have seen him but I have continued to respect and honor him. God bless you and the family as you celebrate his life.

Ileene and I transferred to Harding from Lubbock Christian for our last two years. One of my special memories of those two years was the opportunity to serve as a student worker in the Bible department, working for Dr. Hacker. I remember his energy, drive, and encouragement. The classical music he always had on in the background. He served the Lord well. Our prayers will be with all of you.

I'm so sorry for your loss and pray for many wonderful memories. Dr Hacker was a fine and gentle man the few times I was able to meet him at your Huntsville home. He was quick with a smile and treated me like we had been friends forever. I'm so thankful for men like him who have loved and mentored so many during his years.

Joe was one of the first faculty members to befriend us when we first joined the faculty in 1968 WITHOUT any prior Harding connections. He took us for a ride in his airplane to give us our first aerial view of Searcy and one of only two in the 49 years we've been here. We have many other fond memories of the Hacker family.

I am so sorry that you lost Dr. Hacker. Of course, we all know that we will see him again someday. I never had him for Bible; but on campus, he was a great inspiration to me and had an impact on my life. My Harding years were four of the most important years of my life. I'm thankful that he was a part of all that. May God bless during this difficult time of giving him up here on Earth...just don't ever forget that you will see him again in that Beautiful place.

Hacker family, I share in your sorrow and in your great memories. I attended Dr. Hacker's classes while a Bible major at Harding (Class of '72). He was an inspiration and I remember his asking me to procotor exams on occasion. He was a gentleman and a guide. You are in my prayers as I thank God for his life and for his impact on mine.
