Gordon, Wayne Scott, 71, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. He was a native to Huntsville, born February 9, 1945 to Gorden M. Scott and Glennis Bostick Scott. His sister, Glenda Joyce Smith, along with his parents preceded him in death.

Wayne grew up in Huntsville, loving everything about it. He became interested in playing drums early on, and in his career jammed with the likes of Jeff Cook, Earl Thomas Conley, and Elvis Presley. He also owned and ran many night clubs in the Madison county area. By the mid- 1970s, he retired from the music/club business and began his very successful career with the Postal Service. He worked his way up from the loading dock at 19, to Postmaster. He received many honors and awards for performance and philanthropic efforts. This included the highest honor given by the U.S.P.S., the Benjamin Franklin award.

He married his wife of 42 years, Gloria Cooke Scott, on July 1, 1974. Wayne and Gloria shared many happy moments. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, his daughter Amy Nichols (Leland) of Elora, Tn;, his daughter Kimberley Scott Bartel (Jason) of Huntsville, Al; his son Gordon Wayne Scott Jr. He also is survived by his grandchildren Cody Bailey, Gordon Wayne Scott III, Emily Bartel and Harrison Bartel. His monumental spirit will be missed.

Visitation for Mr. Scott will be held at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm. Service's will be held in the Spry Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Andrews officiating. Burial will follow the service in Bostick Cemetery.
